New DOJ

I got my e-ticket and visa today after a few complications and to my surprise I’m actually flying before the expected date, which I’m okay with.

I am days away from change, a new place to lay my head, a place to rearrange.

24 days!

24 daysIt hasn’t  completely sunk in yet but I’m starting to do my laundry and pack so every day it’s becoming more and more real! I just bought my training shoes today along with fabric to make the outfit I’m going to wear on the 28th and to make the black trousers for training. I’m so excited! I can’t wait to see my apartment and to start training. I’m going to miss my parents SO UNBELIEVABLY MUCH! They are the most supportive parents a girl could ever ask for, I have been more than blessed with my mom and dad! I’m so grateful for everything they have done for me and I can’t wait to repay them for everything! They deserve the very best!

Well, 24 more days! I’m sure I’ll post more SOON!!! Toodeloo 🙂

42 days left!

I haven’t updated my blog in a while, I know…but not much has been going on since I finished the medicals. I finished the workbook! All the parts we can answer before moving to Dubai at least and now I just need to buy a few clothes and a pair or black flat shoes for the training. Before moving everyone gets a little nostalgic and some have second thoughts but I can honestly say the only thing I’m going to miss about Brazil are my parents… I’m not really attached to anything or anyone here. The hardest thing for me to do was leave TX which is where all my roots are. Brazil never felt like home to me so it’s not that big of a deal. Hopefully my parents will move back to TX eventually because then it’ll be easier to visit my brother and them, and my friends of course! I’d be getting it all done in one trip which would be awesome. Well, I’ll probably update again right before I move AND after I move I shall update it wayyy more often! I can’t wait to put on that uniform 🙂

Final Approval!

Just got my final approval this morning 🙂 Now I can relax and just enjoy my time before leaving Brazil. Well…not quite…there’s a little studying we’re required to do before leaving but I’m really into it so it’s all just part of the fun-filled journey. If I haven’t said it enough here, I feel SO TRULY blessed for this opportunity and I hope I NEVER take it for granted! I’m living my dream!

Done With Medicals

So, I’m all done with my medical exams! (YAY!) I just finished uploading everything today and I’m hoping they wont ask for any more exams. It has been a crazy week, running around from doctor to doctor and taking 1,000 shots but it has been worth it! Just waiting for my FA now 🙂

Golden Call!

I might just be the happiest person on earth today! I got my golden call at 7:45 this morning and I was so excited all I heard the lady say was “Congratulations!”, “Your date of joining is December 28th” and “You’ll receive an e-mail in a couple of days with all the information”. I really hope she didn’t give me any other important info because it was too early and I was way too excited to function properly.

I’m SO excited to be living my dream! God has granted every desire of my heart so far and I feel beyond blessed!!!

LET THE JOURNEY BEGIN!

Medical Exams

While waiting for my GC to find out my DOJ there’s a long list of medical exams I have to get done so that’s what’s taking up most of my time. The pre-joining formalities aren’t really that complicated, getting the medical reports translated is what’s time consuming but I know it’ll be worth it in the end so I’m gonna get it all done with a big smile on my face.

I’ve come to the conclusion that waiting for the GC feels a lot like it felt to wait for my class schedule on the first day of high school. The excitement is just about the same except in a more grown up way now. Getting my first roster will probably be a lot more like getting a class schedule though…hmm. I just can’t wait to start this new amazing chapter in my life! Words cannot even begin to describe how BLESSED I have been.

YWBC – Status Change

I DON’T THINK IT’S OKAY FOR ANYONE TO BE AS EXCITED AS I AM RIGHT NOW!!! From AIP my status could’ve gone 2 directions UNSUCCESSFUL or they could block my account to where I couldn’t log in and this message would show up WHICH MEANS I SHOULD BE EXPECTING MY CALL!!! Ahhhhhhh this is the perfect moment to be alone because I can jump around, scream, dance and there’s no one here to think I’m cRaZy! Although…I’m sure everyone would understand! I can’t even imagine how I will react when I get the call!

So here’s my updated timeline:

OD – July 28, 2012

AD – September 29, 2012

Recruitment Process (My Experience)

OPEN DAY: My open day was pretty crazy I would say… there were so many people! We were divided into 2 groups because there were too many people to fit in the room. I was in the 9:00 group which was the first one. First we had a presentation about the airline and Dubai where our recruiter told us everything we needed to know about the culture and what our lives would be like. After that we had a quick individual interview with one of the recruiters who pretty much just wanted to listen to our English and see if it was good enough for us to go on to the next round. She just asked me simple questions like my age, how I heard about the airline, how I learned English and why I wanted to become a flight attendant. After that quick interview, we were divided into groups, groups of 30 then once we got into the room we were divided into 2 groups of 15, we sat around in a circle and we had to introduce ourselves to the group, say our name, age and where we worked. After that we each had to read parts of an article about the airline and Dubai while the recruiter listened to our English. After reading, we were given a topic to talk about, we had to share something unusual about ourselves or something unusual that has happened to us. While we were talking the recruiters called some of us out of the group for a quick interview (I didn’t get called out of the group for the quick interview but I believe they just asked questions about their resumes) Once we got done with that, we all lined up to do the reach test where we had to reach 2,12cm with no shoes on and for the ones who were too short, they could get on their tippy toes. (Do this at home before attending the OD! This is one of the things you DO NOT need to go to an open day to have someone inform you that you’re too short to reach 2,12cm) That was pretty much it for the open day. After that some of us got invited to the Assessment Day and others got sent home.

ASSESMENT DAY: My assesment day was pretty chill. Everyone was nervous of course, but overall we just had to be ourselves and show the recruiters why we thought we were good candidates for the job. What I noticed is that some people were acting like they were being forced to be there. They weren’t smiling or talking to anyone, they were just standing there by themselves or complaining about the wait. What we have to realize is that the Assesment Day is a RECRUITMENT process! The recruiters are looking for people who can maintain a smile on their faces throughout long-haul flights and who can deal with set-backs with a good attitude so whether you’re standing or sitting, doing something or waiting, you HAVE to keep a good attitude and that pretty little smile on your face the whole time! Before the AD began we turned in our resumes to the recruiters then we all went into a room for a presentation about Dubai and the airline (a lot like the one at the OD) after the presentation we can ask questions and talk to the recruiters but time is of the essence so don’t waste it asking dumb questions. Our recruiters were Gifty and Csilla, they pretty much cover everything during the presentation. After the presentation we were divided into 2 groups of 30 then into 2 groups of 15 and we had to get to know the  person to our left and had to introduce them to the group. We had to say 3 things about them, 2 things had to be true and one had to be a lie and the group had to figure out which one was a lie. While we were doing this we were getting called out of the group for a quick interview and another reach test (once again, a lot like the OD) After this stage some people got sent home and others stayed. After that group activity we had an English test, there were about 40 multiple choice questions and an essay about 3 personality traits we would like to improve on ourselves. We had an hour to complete that. After the tests were graded, more people got sent home. The last thing we had to do was another group activity, we were given a problem to solve and we had to come to a conclusion as a group. We had to say how we were going to solve the problem, why we decided to do it that way, how we came to that conclusion and so on. After that more people got eliminated. At the end of the day we had about 10 people who had made it to the final interview. We had to stay and fill out a few forms and we received a flash-drive card that took me about 3 days to figure out how to work haha. Anyways, the AD is your time to SHINE! It’s your time to show that you have all the personality traits they’re looking for to fit the position you’re applying for. When you feel like you’re getting tired just remind yourself how hard it is to land a job as a flight attendant and how awesome and proud of yourself you will feel once that day is over and you have those three papers of approval in your hand!

FINAL INTERVIEW: Before going to my FI I looked all over the internet for blogs and stories that would help me get ready and I asked a few people I had met shortly before my AD, who had already made it through their FI and they all said the same thing “There’s no advice to be given.” I didn’t understand that at the time but after having been through it… there’s really no advice to be given. The FI is all about your past experiences, previous jobs and etc. So before going just think about all your past experiences at all your previous jobs and look at some scenario questions and you should be ready for it! The interview itself takes about 45mins-1hr. My advice is dress the part, smile as much as you can, don’t lie and last but not least, BE YOURSELF!!!

When getting your pictures done, do them with Sanjer! (If you’re in SP of course) PICTURES ARE IMPORTANT AND THEY ARE THE BEST AT WHAT THEY DO! I don’t think I could have been more satisfied with my pictures or with the way I was treated from the second I arrived till now. I got awesome pictures done and also made a new friend, Marli is the best! #ficaadica
